Score 86-88/100 · Drink 2020-2026, Neal Martin, Jan 2019

A blend of three parcels including two declassified Premier Crus (Petit Fonteny and Bel Air), the 2017 Gevrey-Chambertin Village felt quite reduced on the nose out of barrel and did not really sing like Bruno Clair’s Marsannays. The palate is medium-bodied with chalky tannin and a twist of bitter cherry on the entry but lacks some weight on the back end. Hopefully it will gain mass during the remainder of its élevage .
