BUYING WINES

Vinfolio offers customers unparalleled access to a vast global selection of the world's finest wines. 

Some items are available for immediate delivery from our own stock and private collectors, while others are offered as pre-arrival through our extensive global network of producers and merchants.

Pre-arrival wines: 

The vast majority of our offerings are available through our extensive global network of producers and merchants. We prioritize sourcing directly from producers or trusted suppliers whenever possible, ensuring authenticity and quality. Our global partnerships grant us access to a diverse selection, with over 50,000 unique listings at any given time. 

Available now: 

We also offer a substantial selection of wines that are in stock and ready for immediate delivery. These items are either held within Vinfolio's own inventory or sourced from our private collectors. Once payment is received, we can promptly arrange the shipping of these products. 

The shipping time for pre-arrival wines varies based on their origin. Direct imports from overseas producers may take several months due to packaging, shipping, customs clearance, and arrival at our storage facility. In contrast, sourcing from local importers often reduces this timeframe to a few weeks. Notably, Bordeaux and Burgundy pre-arrivals might experience longer durations because French wineries release these wines earlier than others, and international shipping regulations can be intricate. 

Vinfolio operates primarily as an online platform for buying, selling, and storing fine wines. While we do not have a traditional retail storefront, our headquarters and storage facility is located at 500 Devlin Road, Suite 102, Napa, CA 94558. Yes, you will receive a notification as soon as your wines arrive so you can then organise shipping, export or storage via Portfolio. 

You can see the status of your wines and if they have arrived at our warehouse by signing into your Portfolio account. 

PAYMENTS

Sign in to your Portfolio account to pay online using the secure payment page link. Alternatively, settle your invoice by direct bank transfer.

Please include your Vinfolio account number or invoice number in the payment reference. These can both be found on your invoice.

We accept payment via Visa, MasterCard, American Express or by direct bank transfer.

When making a payment by bank transfer, please include your Vinfolio account number or invoice number in the payment reference. These can both be found on your invoice.

Unfortunately, we are unable to accept PayPal payments at this time.

You can view and download all recent invoices by signing into your Portfolio account and visiting My Accounts or Outstanding Balances.

SHIPPING

The easiest way to organize delivery of your wines is through the Deliver page on Portfolio. To take delivery of your wines, follow these steps:

1. Log into your Portfolio.

2. Navigate to the At Vinfolio tab.

3. Select the relevant wines you wish to take delivery of.

4. Click the ‘Request delivery’ action button.

5. Enter your chosen delivery and billing address.

Confirm the payment method.

Wine shipments in the U.S. are controlled and regulated by individual states. Where allowed, we can provide direct shipment in accordance with state permits and regulations. For customers who take ownership of purchased wine at our facility, they may organise collection of their wine from our facility directly or chose to store with us.

Pick-ups scheduled for a given day are available between 8:30am - 12pm & 1:30pm - 4:30pm, Monday to Friday. Wine not picked up within 10 business days of your scheduled date will be transferred back to storage and is subject to a restocking fee of $1.50 per bottle

For international deliveries, we work with a range of external partners. Upon confirmation of your order, our team will collect quotes on your behalf and will reach out to you within the next business day. Once you confirm the quote, we will connect you with the external shipping company to complete your payment and provide tracking updates.

Yes, we offer local delivery services (and pick-up services, for storage clients) in the San Francisco Bay Area plus Napa and Sonoma counties in our 55° temperature-controlled vans.

Local delivery is a $50 minimum charge of up to 5 cases and $5 per case thereafter. Deliveries are subject to route availability. For requests that cannot be accommodated using our vans, we may be able to arrange an alternative and quote you the rate we are given. Contact us at service@vinfolio.com to learn more.

FRIDAYS – San Francisco and any miscellaneous deliveries/pick-up we could not do Monday – Thursday.

Wine in transit (via our vans, FedEx, or others) is fully insured for up to $100 per carton at no charge when arranged by us. This insurance covers missing shipments, breakage, and other non-temperature related damage. Additional coverage is available upon request, please contact service@vinfolio.com for additional coverage options.

Here are a few pointers for the most seamless delivery possible:

Always use the quickest speed possible. This might mean a higher shipping cost, but weigh the costs of shipping against the risk to your wine should you choose to send it across the country using a slower speed.

Ship to a business address, or to a building that has a doorman that can accept your delivery. We recommend shipping to an address that is equipped to receive shipments during standard business hours. This ensures that shipments will not remain overnight in vans or warehouse facilities without temperature controls.

Ensure the presence of a receiver of legal age. Since a wine shipment contains alcohol, carriers are required by law to obtain an adult (over 21 years of age) signature upon receipt.

Monitor your tracking number. FedEx and Golden State Overnight often update their tracking information in real time, so if there is a problem with your delivery, you should be notified fairly quickly.

Be aware of any changes in weather or other issues that could delay delivery. A sudden storm may throw a wrench into your delivery timing, which unfortunately, is uncontrollable. The shutting down of streets for festivals such as Mardi Gras, the NYC Marathon, or a presidential visit can also affect your delivery, so try to plan around them if possible.

A Weather Hold is when we delay your scheduled shipment due to adverse weather conditions (temperatures above 75°F or below 20°F) that may cause damage to your wine. All ready-to-ship orders may be placed on weather hold unless otherwise instructed by the customer.

If your order is held due to weather, you will be notified by email, and we will attempt to re-ship your order the following week, after again checking the temperature forecast. If adverse temperature conditions are still present, orders will again be placed on weather hold. You may choose to release the Weather Hold at any time, either by emailing us at service@vinfolio.com or calling us at 800-969-1961.

Please note, this option is at customer's own risk, and releases Vinfolio from any responsibility for temperature-related damage.

STORAGE

Yes, you can. All you need to do to start storing is open an account with us. As soon as that is complete you can start sending wine to storage.

Our Fine Wine Storage facility is located in Napa.

Our warehouse hours are: 

Monday to Friday  7:00am - 2:00 pm PT 

From half-bottles to imperials, we store both singles and cases. 

 Please note that we inspect the condition of wines upon arrival and reserve the right to reject items on the basis they are not suitable for storage (because of woodworm, leakage etc).  

Please also note that we do not accept wines into our facility without prior warning. A shipping list reference will be needed by our warehouse in order to accept deliveries, which can be generated by signing into your account and using the Add Product function within Portfolio. 

Vinfolio's license only allows us to store wine made from grapes. If we receive any other items, we will first contact you to see what you would like us to do with them and may return them to the sender or destroy them if we cannot find a way to get them to you. 

 Vinfolio’s storage rates are based on the number of bottles stored:  

499 bottles or less: $0.39 per bottle per month, with a $50 minimum monthly charge (covers up to 142 bottles).  500+ bottles: $0.35 per bottle per month. 

 Additional Fees:  

Inbound Fee: $1.50 per bottle  Outbound Fee: $1.50 per bottle

Vinfolio’s fine wine storage service is a full-service storage facility. It is fully staffed and highly secure. It is not possible for you to walk in and locate your wine within the facility whenever you'd like. However, you are more than welcome to visit the facility by appointment or stop by Will Call during business hours. You have 24/7 visibility into your stored wines via Portfolio and you can place a move request at any time.  

For your convenience, you can send wine to storage in almost any way. You may drop off wine in person at one of our two office locations, send wine to us from home or directly from your point of purchase, or have us pick up your wine at home or your point of purchase in our temperature-controlled van.  

Please also note that we do not accept wines into our facility without prior warning. A shipping list reference will be needed by our warehouse in order to accept deliveries, which can be generated by signing into your account and using the Add Product function within Portfolio.

DROP OFF/SHIP WINE 

You can either ship or drop of your wines at our storage facility in Napa.

SELLING

Yes, providing they are currently stored with us or can be transferred to our warehouse located in Napa, CA.

You can look up the current market value of the wines in your collection by signing into your Portfolio account.

To list your wines for sale, follow these steps:

1. Log into your Portfolio. 2. Navigate to the At Vinfolio tab. 3. Select the items you wish to list. 4. Click the ‘Place on sale’ action button. 5. Enter your desired listing price and quantity. 6. Confirm your listing.

We recommend using our valuation, but you can set your own price as needed. Once listed, your wines will be available for buyers on our marketplace.

To remove listings on sale, follow these steps:

1. Log into your Portfolio. 2. Navigate to the On Sale tab. 3. Select the relevant wines you wish to take off sale. 4. Click the ‘Take off sale’ action button. 5. Confirm the removal of the selected items.

If you list your wines for sale using our Portfolio platform, we charge a 20% commission on the sale price of your wine.

Payments are made on the 5th and 20th of the month, if date falls on a weekend or holiday you will be paid the following business day.

PORTFOLIO

You can find an inventory of the wines you have purchased from Vinfolio online when you sign into Portfolio. 

 The Overview page provides an indication of which orders have arrived and are currently in your storage account, as well as wines that you have had delivered home from Vinfolio (please note that these can be removed from your Portfolio if you wish). 

Through Portfolio, you can also place wines on sale and request delivery of your wines in storage. 

You can sign in to your Portfolio, reset your password or create a new account via our website.
