Tasting notes
The 2017 Collio Rosso Riserva is distinctly savory, with wild herbs and earth tones giving way to exotic spices, crushed stone and mentholated black currants. This is texturally deep, with silken waves of ripe red and blue fruits energized by zesty acidity as hints of sour citrus and saline mineral tones saturate. The 2017 lingers long, leaving suggestions of salted licorice and violet inner florals that slowly fade over a coating of edgy tannins. Two thousand seventeen was a warmer vintage, yet a cool September allowed the grapes to reach balanced maturity.

The 2017 Rosso Riserva is stunning, lifting from the glass with a spectacularly varietal and perfumed mix of crushed blueberries and plums offset by lavender and hints of wet stone. This is vividly fruity yet still finessed with peppery wild berry fruits and inner herbal tones enlivened by saline-tinged acidity. It finishes lightly structured with lingering hints of licorice and violet—what a beauty. While 2017 was a warm vintage overall, the later ripening reds benefited from rain that brought cooler temperatures prior to harvest. The Rosso Riserva is essentially a declassified version of Rosso della Centa, both of which are 100% Merlot.
About the producer

Borgo del Tiglio is one of Italy's great hidden gems. A devastating landslide in November 2025 destroyed the estate's cellars, leaving the future of the historic Ronco della Chiesa vineyard uncertain.
