Score 91/100 · Drink 2009-2019, Robert Parker, Aug 2009

The 2006 Fracture is the most backward of the 2006s, yet it is well-endowed, muscular, and dense as well as promising. Forget it for several years, and drink it over the next decade. Booker Vineyard, a 40-acre vineyard planted on limestone soils just west of Highway 101, continues to strut its stuff after its impressive debut in 2005. I retasted several of the 2006s I had last year, and the ratings were slightly elevated. Tel. (805) 237-7367; Fax (805) 237-7368

(100% syrah) Bright ruby. Deep dark berry aromas are complemented by cured meat, incense and sexy oak spice; very syrah. Sappy and concentrated, offering vivid black raspberry and cassis flavors with a slow-mounting smokiness. Becomes sweeter and denser with air, finishing with outstanding cling and spicy length. A very impressive showing for this wine.
