Palish red with a pale rim. Musky aromas of cherry, currant, mocha and iron; more about soil than primary fruit. Then supple and quite dry on the palate, with good cut and intensity to the mocha, herb and mint flavors. Not a fleshy or generous style; in fact, this comes across as a bit chunky today. Finishes with fresh herbs and dusty tannins.

Bright red. Red fruits, flowers and spicy oak on the nose. Sweet and ripe in the mouth, with strong minerally, stony cut and a saline, savory quality to the red fruit and floral flavors. This boasts terrific intensity and finesse. Extremely promising for this cuvee, finishing with lovely subtle floral persistence and noteworthy energy. Tasted after the Combe aux Moines, this seems more Chambolle in style.

Rather pale crimson. Loose and simple. It’s fine but without much real soul or energy and pretty dry on the end. (JR)
