This is pretty exciting, the best of these four 1990s served by J&B to celebrate their quarter-century of offering burgundy en primeur. Wonderful vigour and freshness and whistle clean with a great line and drive. Relatively good value even now. (JR)

Perhaps I caught the wine at a difficult stage. While the Chambertin-Clos de Beze is medium to full-bodied, relatively restrained, with good ripeness, attractive levels of extract, and moderate tannins, it is not dazzling. Importer: Dan Kravitz, Hand Picked Selections, Warrenton, VA.
