Faiveley has a 1.2-hectare plot of this Grand Cru and it’s always one of our favourites at the domaine. The soils here are incredibly stony, with very little topsoil, creating – as winemaker Jérôme Flous describes it – a red for those who like white. The 2022 dances with delicate florals, white pepper, pain d’épice and dainty cassis fruit. The palate offers a chalky grip, yet it’s the purity of fruit that defines the wine – vivid crushed raspberry that powers the palate. There’s a profound twist to the mid-palate, a glimpse of what is to come, while fine-boned acidity and mineral notes lift the long finish.
