The 2020 Chambertin Clos-de-Bèze Grand Cru is slightly higher toned on the nose than the Rousseau. Raspberry, wild strawberry, cedar, a touch of ash and white pepper come through with time. This is quite complex. The palate is medium-bodied with sapid red fruit, black pepper and orange rind. Touches of Indian spice come through on the finish, and it feels a bit austere and unyielding. Perhaps a little heavy on the oak? It's a bit of a strange showing vis-a-vis in barrel, hence the question mark. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cask sample. Rather majestic nose. Really very smart indeed! Chapeau!! That's the stuff! Solid but with lots of fruit. Quite fine, ripe tannins in abundance. Already impressive but you really do need to keep this. Cheaper than the famous names?! (JR)
The 2020 Chambertin Clos de Bèze Grand Cru has a fabulous, pixelated bouquet with ebullient, brambly red fruit interlaced with minerals. Real pedigree here. The palate is medium-bodied with a sappy, saline entry. Great depth, cohesive with just the right amount of salinity. This lingers long in the mouth. Irresistible, surfeit with class.
