Tasting notes
The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Les Porêts-Saint-Georges is showing very well from bottle, unfurling in the glass with aromas of wild berries, cassis, candied peel, incense and spices, gently framed by a deft application of new oak that's already nicely integrated. On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied, supple and fleshy, with ripe but lively acids, a fleshy core of mouthwatering fruit and fine framing tannins, concluding with good length on the finish. The style of the vintage makes this an unusually open, forward rendition of Faiveley's Les Porêts-Saint-Georges, and it will offer a broad drinking window.

Cask sample. Mid cherry red. Deep and inviting sweet red fruit on the nose with a lovely sense of freshness as if there were some stems. A little peppery and dusty. Firm but fine texture, very flattering. Moreish finish. (JH)
