2007 Chambertin Clos de Beze

Good deep red. Black fruits, violet and minerals on the rather aristocratic nose. At once silky, broad and fresh, with superb inner-mouth energy and definition and a dominant fla vor of black raspberry. Finishes very long, rich and sweet, with substantial smooth tannins that reach the incisors. Superb, and deserving of at least six years in the cellar.

Richness and jewel fruit and soars above most of the other wines. Great fruit intensity. Covers the tannins – almost – but not a real real standout. (JR)

Deep red-ruby. Deep aromas of dark berries and spices, with a whiff of resin. The mineral and spice flavors spread out to coat the palate without any impression of weight. Densely packed and a bit youthfully brooding but conveys a light touch for a wine with such underlying power. This comes across as tougher than the Bonnes-Mares and less showy today, perhaps because it finished its secondary fermentation later.
