Medium red. Captivating bouquet of black cherry, cardamom, smoky minerals and underbrush. Densely packed and sweet if a bit youthfully reduced, with a strong element of smoky minerality contributing to the sappy impression and giving the wine a light touch. An essentially silky, broad wine that firms up on the back end. Give this at least five years in the cellar.

Medium red. Cooler redcurrant and red cherry aromas are lifted by rose petal and a whiff of menthol. Juicy, bright and tight, with a high-pitched suggestion of exotic citrus peel giving further lift to the sharply delineated red cherry, mineral and floral flavors (indeed, Hervet compared this to the 1979 bottling for its citrus high note). A very stylish and impeccably balanced version of Clos-Vougeot, finishing precise and light on its feet. The juice from Faiveley's vines in the lower portion of this vineyard was declassified.

Already bottled. Solid nose but very earthbound and relatively simple. Short. I don't get this at all. (JR)
