Pale ruby with a shy nose but great presence on the palate. Grainy texture and a firm imprint of ripe fruit builds towards a spicy, beguiling finish. Firm. Grown up. Very satisfying and savoury rather than simple and sweet. Wonderful peacock's tail finish. Grown-up wine. Not sure I believe it's only 12.5% alcohol... (JR)

Cherry red with slightly more orange notes than the Marcel Lapierre Morgon 2009 served alongside. Less obvious nose, some green notes, but then on the palate it is really charming and sweet. Less exuberant than the Morgon. Tender and gentle and already giving pleasure, thanks to its relatively (for an Auxey) rich fruit on the mid palate. (JR)
