Tasting notes
Picked a bit later than the "one-star" version and with more botrytis, this nevertheless shares the theme of intense, fresh lime fruit, here adding red berries, pink grapefruit and honey. Another case of an amazingly luscious, juicy ocean of fruit casting powerful, sea-salty waves over the palate. Ultimately this is more intense and rich yet less weighty than the "one-star" bottling. 2 stars.

If the 2003 Riesling Auslese Zeltinger Schlossberg**’s aromatics had not been completely dominated by SO2 it may have earned an exceptional score. Big, bold, and medium to full-bodied, this ample wine enthralls the taster with its sensual personality. Soft, oily-textured, and plush, its cotton candy, jammy raspberry, cassis, poached pear, spiced apple, and red currant jelly flavors linger throughout its sultry, prolonged finish. Anticipated maturity: 2008-2022. Importer: Terry Theise Estate Selections, imported by Michael Skurnik Wines, Inc., Syosset, NY; tel. (516) 677-9300
