(57-year-old vines) Good full red. Cherry and spicy oak on the nose. Moderately sweet and dense but backward; harder to taste than the examples from Vosne-Romanee and quite oaky today. This ripe wine has a sizable structure, but the finish is a bit tough with wood tannins.

57-year-old vines on the Vosne side. Bright crimson with quite a bit more sort of liqueur-like depth than the Suchots. Very racy and dancing but definitely more like 2000’s sprightliness than 2005’s magnificence. Charm-school wine! Just a little bit of lift and sinew stops it from being too easy. (JR)
