Tasting notes
(from the first vines north of the village) Bright red-ruby. Spicy aromas of redcurrant, plum, blackberry, tobacco and menthol; reminded me a bit of California cabernet. Then more minerally and vibrant in the mouth than the Reas, with flavors of black fruits, flowers and mint. Finishes with a cool, medicinal aspect and building dusty tannins.

Produced from 20 year old vines harvested at 36 hectoliters per hectare, the medium to dark-ruby-colored 2002 Nuits-St.-Georges La Charmotte boasts a highly expressive nose of blackberries and cassis. Medium-bodied, ample, and satin-textured, it displays excellent depth to its black fruit, licorice, and earth-flavored core. Drink it over the next 6 years.
