Tasting notes
A Merlot-heavy blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc from gravelly soils just beside Le Pin, the 2025 Château Guillot-Clauzel is raised in equal thirds of new, once-used, and second-fill barrels. It sports a deep ruby hue as well as a beautifully perfumed nose of red and black fruits, leafy herbs, tobacco, and spicy, floral nuances. It's a sexy, medium to full-bodied Pomerol on the palate, with no hard edges and outstanding length. It brings incredible charm and character in the vintage.

The 2025 Guillot-Clauzel is quite attractive. Crushed flowers, orange peel, mint and white pepper lend tons of aromatic brilliance. There's a bit of austerity in the contours. Hopefully, élevage will take care of that. I look forward to revisiting this again in another few years. Tasted two times.
Offering up notes of sweet cherries, berries and plums, framed by a subtle touch of oak, the 2025 Guillot Clauzel is medium- to full-bodied, ample and enveloping, with a fleshy core of fruit and supple tannins. It's a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc from this small, 2.5-hectare property.
About the producer

This small estate, just a stone’s throw from Le Pin, is one of the most exciting addresses in Pomerol. Ch. Guillot-Clauzel produces an elegant style of Pomerol and, with Guillaume Thienpont running the property in 2018, it is one you’ll want to keep an eye on.
