Cask sample. A premier cru at a grand cru price! Not what consumers really want. But there is no doubting that this is a very fine Côte de Nuits Pinot Noir. Lovely balance on the nose, not too heavy, not too extracted. Lots of finesse on show. Love the sweetness of red cherry and raspberry on the palate. Subtle oak. Great acidity and fine tannins complete the package. Love the wine but not convinced by the price. (AWH)

The 2024 Gevrey-Chambertin Les Goulots 1er Cru is fully de-stemmed this year with around half a production. I absolutely loved the previous vintage, although this does not quite gel on the nose, missing the cohesion and vigour of the La Perrière. The palate is medium-bodied with quite strict tannins. There is a pleasing piquancy in this Les Goulots; however, it lacks a bit of "flow" and I prefer the precision on the aforementioned La Perrière this year.

Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini was established in 2012 when Florence Heresztyn took over her family domaine in Gevrey-Chambertin with her husband Simon Mazzini (who originally comes from Champagne).
