Score 95/100 · Drink 2019-2027, Jeb Dunnuck, Oct 2019

Made from 100% Grenache that spent 18 months in barrel, the 2017 Hard Point reveals a deep ruby/purple color as well as a big, juicy, luscious bouquet of candied black cherries, blackberries, licorice, toasted spice, and dried herbes de Provence-like aromas and flavors. With full-bodied richness and an opulent, sexy texture, this flamboyant, pure Paso Robles Grenache has ripe tannins, integrated acidity, and a great finish. It's a big, opulent beauty to drink over the coming 6-8 years. Readers who like classic, full-bodied, impeccably made Paso Robles blends (count me in) need to check out the wines from Connor and Rebecca McMahon’s FullDraw Vineyard. Pulling all from their estate vineyard located just beside Eric Jensen's Booker Vineyard, on the westside of Paso Robles, the wines pack plenty of fruit and opulence, yet they’re beautifully balanced and always a joy to drink. This is another up and coming estate (it was created in 2012) readers need to have on their radar.
