Score 88-90/100 · Drink 2001-2009, Pierre Rovani, Jun 2001
The 1999 Nuits-St.-Georges Chaines Carteaux is medium to dark ruby-colored and displays a lovely blackberry-scented nose. Medium-bodied, lush, and plump, it is crammed with black cherries, juicy blackberries, and plums. It is velvety-textured, extremely flavorful, and reveals copious quantities of gorgeously ripened tannin. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. Importer: Vineyard Brands, Birmingham, AL; tel. Bright, deep ruby-red. Aromas of red and black cherry and bitter chocolate. Lush texture nicely supported by ripe acids. Fairly intense, cooler flavors offer the freshness of the vintage. Finishes with substantial chewy tannins and an inky nuance.
