The 2011 Nuits Saint Georges Cuvée Les Petit Plets is laced with savory herbs, crushed flowers, licorice, menthol and plums. Some of the green, dry notes typical of 2011 come through, yet the 2011 offers solid balance and plenty of personality. It will be interesting to see how the 2011 develops in bottle, and specifically, if some of the green notes integrate over time, or if they become more prominent.

Lots of vines died in 1986 so they have some young er (25 years!) vines at the bottom of the hill. Quite dark crimson. Slightly skinny nose. Fresh and clean and neat without being mind blowing. Savoury and a little harsh on the finish. (JR)
Sweet and quite rich and flattering. Quite juicy. Firm finish. Satsifying even if not earth-moving. Sandpaper finish. But lively. (JR)
(less than 10% vendange entier; made from the young vines of Clos des Forets Saint-Georges, which were replanted in the late '80s after the freeze of 1985): Good deep red-ruby. Black cherry, licorice, menthol and black pepper on the lively nose. Juicy and energetic, with a light touch to the dark fruit and pepper flavors. I like the blend of supple and savory here. The longest 2011 to this point, finishing with smooth tannins and lingering dark berry and spice elements. Showing well today.
