Score 90/100 · Drink 1990-1995, Robert Parker, Jan 1990
My favorite wine from this excellent producer in 1987 is his Bonnes Mares. It had a fabulous bouquet of ripe, plummy fruit combined with smoky, toasty, vanillin scents and the scent of raw ground beef and Worcestershire sauce. Once past the gorgeous bouquet, one finds a superbly rendered, rich, velvety, dazzling wine with layers of berry fruit oozing from the glass. This is an exquisite 1987, but there is one caveat-it must be drunk by 1994-1995.
