Medium red. Aromas of black cherry, cassis and menthol. Surprisingly supple in the mouth but with some menthol and peppery herb notes to go with the darker fruit flavors. Just a touch sour on the end in the early going.

Healthy full red. Reticent aromas of black cherry and minerals. Sweeter in the mouth but less expressive than the Marsannay, still with slightly tart acidity. Finishes with dusty tannins and a lightly salty character. This only finished its malolactic in September. Incidentally, Trapet tried an experiment for this wine in 2013: he did a classic vinification for part of this cuvée , but he destemmed the other portion of the fruit and then added back the stems.
The 2013 Gevrey-Chambertin Village has a taut and crisp blackberry-scented nose that has a sense of strictness, but is fresh and focused. The palate is very pure with super-fine tannins, sorbet-like freshness and a captivating finish that is frankly premier cru level. Bon vin! One of the best village crus of the vintage.
