Score 91/100 · Drink 2016-2022, Neal Martin, Wine Advocate, Aug 2016

The 2014 Chablis 1er Cru Les Beauroys has a stricter bouquet than the 2014 Les Vaudevey, slightly more taciturn and resinous in style. The palate is fresh and citrus-like on the entry, saline in the mouth, edgy and poised. This is a Chablis that makes you work a little, not as generous as its fellow Premier Crus from Laroche, but then again, that confers it with great typicité. It will probably not garner such wide appeal as others in their range, although militant Chablis-lovers will appreciate this style.

(most of these vines are between 40 and 45 years of age but some are as old as 62): Aromas and flavors of white peach, white pepper, crushed rock and spices. Nicely round but brisk and light on its feet, with a saline, chalky character becoming more obvious in the glass. In fact, this very dry, penetrating premier cru is a bit youthfully strict and uncompromising. If the Vaudevey would be good with simply prepared river fish, this would pair well with a spicy Asian fish curry.
