Tasting notes
The 2019 Brunello Di Montalcino Riserva reveals a dark ruby red color and is ripe in the glass with brooding notes of black cherries, worn leather, cedar, and sweet tobacco. Where the nose is a bit reserved and slow to open, the palate is bold, with a compact, full-bodied structure, crispy, mouthwatering salinity, angular tannins, and refreshing acidity. Its grip holds through the finish, so it's going to benefit from another year or so in bottle. Drink 2026-2036.

The Tenute Silvio Nardi 2019 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva is dark and sultry with a tightly packed bouquet featuring blackcurrant, pitted prune and savory spice. These are classic aromas for oak-aged Brunello, and to these I would add pressed lavender flower and crushed stone. It's a full-bodied wine with a powerful 15% alcoholic content. Production is 4,500 bottles.
Concentrated mid ruby. Lots of concentration on the nose and with a suggestion of gingerbread. With aeration, becomes more and more aromatic. Juicy, concentrated cherry-fruit palate with the right dose of chewy tannins. A big mouthful of fruit, but well balanced. (WS)
In the bottle with the burgundy-colored label, the Tenute Silvio Nardi 2019 Brunello di Montalcino is a layered and generous wine with black fruit, cherry, spice and a hint of Provençal mixed herbs on black olive. There are further hints of underbrush, crushed slate, petrichor from schistic soils, and toasted almond that adds some sweetness from French oak. The tannins are velvety and soft, but this wine is regularly balanced throughout. It's well made in an ample production of 150,000 bottles.
