Score 93/100 · Drink 2025-2032, Matthew Luczy, Wine Advocate, Sep 2024
A blend of 65% Zinfandel, 14% Carignan, 12% Mourvèdre and 9% Syrah, the 2022 Problem Child opens on a more coiled, woodier note than its Zinfandel-based counterpart, the Cherry Red bottling. The palate exudes even more red-fruited lift and energy than its sibling, although with a bit less allure and grace, focused more on flashy immediacy, which delivers confidently and delectably. The finish recalls the woody notes of the nose, with a grainy, angular tannin structure that merits a couple of years of aging to soften.
