Score 90/100 · Drink 2021-2029, Antonio Galloni, Vinous, May 2020

The 2016 Marsannay Les Boivins is 100% de-stemmed and sees a little new oak during its 18 months élevage. The Boivins has an open-knit, quite sensual bouquet with crushed strawberry mixed with orange pith and loamy aromas - just what you look for in a Marsannay and one of its finest vineyards. The palate is nicely balanced with a peppery opening, a fine bead of acidity and it just cuts away a bit swiftly on the finish, most likely because it has just closed down after bottling rather than any shortcoming in the wine itself. This is worth seeking out but keep it in the cellar for a year or two. - Neal Martin
