Tasting notes
The 2022 Brunnenhäuschen Westhofen Riesling GG opens with a beautifully pure, refined and elegant bouquet from red-colored clay soils covering limestone rocks. The nose is deep, pure and saline, dense and intense but elegant, with yeasty notes intertwined with ripe and concentrated but lush fruit aromas. Very complex and pure on the palate, this is a full-bodied, refined, precise and elegant, seamlessly textured and enormously saline-finishing Riesling from limestone soils with marl layers. It's a fascinating complex and highly refined Riesling. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in July 2023.

Delicate fragrance of fresh apple and lemon balm. Then the sleek palate reverberates with a bright and sunshiny juiciness. It's the smile of your favourite person, a hard-won achievement and a sunrise all at the same time. Fuelled by the tension that comes from Rheinhessen ease and ancient clay and limestone soils, from cooling forest winds and an abundant water supply. Juicy radiance belies the dense, stony and still embryonic core. (PS)

What a breathtakingly vibrant and delicate nose this great riesling GG has! A ray of light falls through a high window and falls on the floor at your feet. Super-focused and crystalline on the medium-bodied palate where the power is masterfully underplayed. This has an exotic side, but it is so restrained. Incredibly long, pure finish. From biodynamically grown grapes with Respekt certification. Drinkable now, but best from 2024.
