Tasting notes
Moderately saturated medium red. Rather shallow aromas of cherry, redcurrant and spices. A juicy, fruit-driven midweight with an edge of acidity accented by some unabsorbed CO2. Decent intensity to the red berry and licorice flavors. Not bad but a bit one-dimensional, finishing with drying tannins and an emerging leathery element.

The 2006 Brunello di Montalcino Riserva wraps around the palate with layers of ripe red fruits, spices, tobacco and licorice. The approachable, up-front style works well here, even if there isn't a ton of excitement in the glass. A pleasant finish rounds things out nicely.

Mid ruby with orange-tinged rim. Lovely, gentle, concentrated red fruit with a fierce tannin structure. Quite soft, but the balance is struck. Just. (WS)
