A blend of 46% Merlot and 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, with the balance Cabernet Franc and Petit Verdot, the 2024 Sarget de Gruaud Larose is a medium-bodied, tangy red redolent of cassis and petals. Pretty, pure and a touch acid-driven, it checks in at just under 12.5% alcohol.

A slightly subdued opening, focus on savoury redcurrant and raspberry fruit, fine tannins with precision and balance, enjoyable. Harvest 27 September to 8 October. 3.55 pH, 31hl/h yield, slap bang on the appellation average, organic certified. Around 55% of overall production in this wine.

The 2024 Sarget de Gruaud Larose is a bold, juicy second wine that will drink well right out of the gate. Succulent red cherry/plum fruit and sweet spice notes are pushed forward. Soft contours wrap it all together while pretty floral accents lift the finish. This mid-weight Saint-Julien is a delight.

The 2024 Sarget de Gruaud Larose spends 12 months in oak. It has a light but pleasant bouquet with blackberry and wild hedgerow scents. It's quite sedated—in a good way. The palate is medium-bodied with grainy tannins, dark berry fruit laced with cedar at its core and a peppery if slightly short finish. Drink this over the next five to seven years.
