Tasting notes
Good bright ruby. Inky blackberry, licorice, mint and violet on the nose, plus a suggestion of roasted herbs. Sweeter on the palate, but with some slightly tart acidity to the flavors of crushed blueberry, herbs, tobacco leaf and Rutherford dust. Obvious oakiness throughout. Finishes firmly tannic, with a lightly herbaceous quality and a touch of dryness.

Etude's 2009 Cabernet Sauvignon Rutherford, from Morisoli, is richer, deeper and riper than the Oakville bottling, largely owing to the small berries present in this site. Black cherries, plums, smoke, tar and licorice jump from the glass. This is a decidedly flashy, exuberant 2009 loaded with personality and sheer character. A round, creamy finish, backed up by serious tannins, round things out in style. Anticipated maturity: 2017-2029. Tel. (707) 257-5300
