Tasting notes
(15.3% alcohol): Opaque purple. Intense aromas of blackberry, cassis, mocha, tarragon and incense. Deeply pitched dark fruit flavors are surprisingly lively, picking up a spicy element with air. Bitter chocolate and floral pastille notes emerge with air and carry through a long, sappy finish.

The 2010 Écluse Syrah Lock Vineyard is more savory, meaty and mineral-laced, with blackberry, smoked bacon, earth, and leafy herb aromas and flavors all emerging from the glass. Medium-bodied, focused, and clean on the palate, with good grip, integrated acidity, and a broad, chewy finish, it will drink well for 4-6 years, possibly longer. The same dry tannin that is found in the Rendition is here as well, but this pulls it off better and has more depth through the middle, as well as more length on the finish.
