All varietal from a mix of sites in the Willow Creek District of Paso Robles, the 2021 Origin spent 18 months in 80% new French oak. Classic Cabernet notes of darker currants, cedary oak, sagebrush, and chocolaty spice all define the aromatics, and it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a round, nicely textured mouthfeel, and enough building tannins to warrant 2-4 years of bottle age.

The 2021 Origin Cabernet Sauvignon is reminiscent of Bordeaux, with savory scents of iodine, saddle leather, pipe tobacco and cast iron complementing a core of violet-laced blackcurrant fruit. The full-bodied palate is focused on mineral character at this youthful stage. It has a frame of clay-textured tannins, energetic acidity and a long finish. It deserves 3-5 years in bottle to unwind.
Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from Gateway, Parrish, L’Aventure and Hawks Hill vineyards. 18 months in 80% new oak. 550 cases produced. Tasted blind. Deep opaque purple. Just-ripe blackberry and gravel. The 2021 Origin, a varietal Cabernet Sauvignon, is darkly floral in character with crushed stone minerality and an array of black fruits and exotic spices. This is soft and round, with crisp blackberries and currants underscored by brisk acidity. The 2021 finishes remarkably fresh with resonating crystalline tannins and inner violet florals. What a beauty.
