Tasting notes
Inky magenta. Expansive aromas of ripe red and blue fruits are complemented by baking spice, potpourri and incense flourishes, and a smoky nuance emerges with air. Sappy and energetic on the palate, offering pliant black raspberry, cherry cola, allspice and candied licorice flavors and a sweetening touch of mocha. A vibrant mineral element emerges on the finish, which hangs on with superb, youthfully tannic persistence.

The 2019 James Berry Vineyard is a charming blend of co-fermented Grenache (51%), Syrah (33%), Mourvèdre (11%) and Roussanne (5%). It was made with destemmed fruit and matured in about 70% new French oak. It has a medium ruby-purple color and scents of wild berry jam, lavender, orange peel and tea leaves. The medium-bodied palate is perfumed and fresh, with fine spicy accents on the uplifted finish. Less than 100 cases were made, so if you see a bottle, don't hesitate!
