Good medium red. Dark cherry, spices, smoked meat, fresh herbs and brambly underbrush on the nose. Sweet, silky and fresh, with nuanced flavors of red berries, mocha, sassafras and earth; showed increasing definition as it opened in the glass. Finishes with rather soft tannins and a slight edge of acidity. .

Vibrant, deep, intense nose. Extremely full and fruity start with some fine, grainy tannin on fht efinsh and very good acidity. Although this is made by Rudi Bauer of Quartz Reef, the wine is extremely different. Round and slightly herbal. The 2002 is even more delicious (18.5) for current drinking. (JR)
