Exotic aromas of mango, overripe pear, brown spices, honey-glazed kiwi fruit and mint. Lush, creamy, sultry and relatively soft in the mouth, yet not without an enticing juiciness. Long finish features pear, kiwi, honey and mint. 1 star.

Interestingly, of the two Auslesen tasted, I preferred the less expensive 2003 Riesling Auslese Urziger Wurzgarten (A.P. Nr. 1704). Its mineral-dominated aromatics are followed by a light to medium-bodied flavor profile filled with pears, sugar-dusted slate, and stones. Seamless, softly-textured, and expressive, it is a candidate for drinking over the next 7-9 years. Importer: Terry Theise Estate Selections, imported by Michael Skurnik Wines, Inc., Syosset, NY; tel.
