Bright purple. Brooding, smoke-accented black and blue fruit, licorice and violet scents are enlivened by hints of cracked pepper and allspice. Sweet and palate-coating, offering intense mulberry and cassis flavors that deepen and tighten up in the glass. Firm tannins gain strength on the finish, with the licorice and cassis notes echoing. Extremely young at this stage, with obviously outstanding material and potential. (JR) 93+

The 2012 The Banshee Proprietary Blend is a big, full-flavored and intense wine that checks in as a blend of 40% Syrah, 35% Grenache and 25% Mourvedre. Aged 17 months in 30% new oak, with plenty of whole cluster, it has that same chalky minerality that is common in all of Scott's wines to go with lots of blueberry, black raspberry, herbes de Provence, tar and dried flowers. Savory, full-bodied, layered and beautifully made, with high-quality tannin, it's already drinking nicely, but will benefit from a few years of bottle age and have 10-15 years of overall longevity.

The 2012 The Banshee is intense and structured to the core. Black fruit, spice, tobacco and leather all flesh out an explosive finish backed up by plenty of structure. The Banshee is 53% Syrah, 32% Mourvèdre and 15% Grenache.
