Score 97/100 · Drink 2023-2040, Joe Czerwinski, Wine Advocate, Jun 2022

From very young vines—the vineyard was replanted in 2016—the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Tin Box Vineyard includes a decent amount of Cabernet Franc. Plummy and dense, it's loaded with cassis and faint herbal nuances—maybe a touch of sage? Full-bodied, rich and velvety, it's long, balanced and harmonious on the finish.

There are 150 cases of the 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Tin Box Vineyard, a rich, full-bodied effort that’s about as sexy and seamless as they come. Giving up plenty of darker fruits, plums, chocolate, tobacco, and a hint of graphite, it’s drink great and will continue drinking great for another 15 years or more.

The 2019 Cabernet Sauvignon Tin Box Vineyard emerges from Jean Phillips' tiny Oakville vineyard just across the road from Tench, where Russell Bevan makes his wines. It is a remarkable wine for a site that has just come back online following a replant. Silky and hedonistic, with port-like richness and tremendous intensity, the 2019 captures all the personality of the Bevan style. Inky red/purplish fruit, chocolate, new leather, licorice, sweet oak and dark spice power through. The 2019 is 75% Cabernet Sauvignon and 25% Cabernet Franc. It's a total stunner.
