Tasting notes
Deep ruby with a bright rim. Powerful, deeply pitched red fruit aromas are complicated by fresh rose and incense. Silky, palate-coating raspberry and cherry compote flavors open up slowly with aeration while retaining very good focus. Gentle tannins come in late to shape this vivacious wine's long, fruit-driven finish. This sexy Grenache is surprisingly approachable but it has the depth to reward patience.

The 2013 Grenache (92% Grenache, 4% Syrah and 4% Mourvedre) has classic black cherry, peppery spice and background meatiness to go with a full-bodied, concentrated feel on the palate. I actually like this more than the 2012, and it should drink nicely on release and evolve for 12-15 years on its balance and purity. As always, I had a great visit with winemaker Anthony Yount. The wines continue to go from strength to strength, and at this point, are a match for anything coming out of the west side of Paso Robles. These are high-quality wines that merit attention. Tel. The 2013 Grenache is laced with black cherry, kirsch and expressive floral notes. Here the use of 95% whole clusters add gorgeous sweetness and perfume. This is another hugely promising wine from Denner.
