Score 87/100 · Drink 2010-2013, Robert Parker, Aug 2010
The medium ruby-colored 2008 Grenache Denner Vineyard exhibits attractive sweet strawberry and cherry fruit, a soft, pleasant, straightforward style, medium to full body, and a heady finish. While there is not much complexity, it should offer pleasant drinking over the next 2-3 years. Think of it as a California version of a French Cotes du Rhone. Sadly, I did not see a 2008 Viognier from Denner as I was fond of previous vintages of this cuvee, particularly the 2007. If you can still find any, some Denner wines I was blown away by last year include the 2007 Grenache and 2007 The Ditch Digger Proprietary Blend (37% Grenache, 29% Syrah, 26% Mourvedre, 5% Counoise, and 3% Cinsault).
