Tasting notes
The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru displays more ripeness and opulence than its peers. The mark of the growing season is more evident than others in this flight/appellation. The palate is ripe and opulent, one of the most Vosne-like Nuits Saint-Georges. It's plush with a silky texture, more blue fruit than its peers, and clearly, some high-quality oak defines the finish. The 2020 is unashamedly modern in style and sexy, though I was not the only person to notice it oxidizing in the glass. Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting.

Cropped at just 14hl/ha, the 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru easily has the best bouquet from Gouges’s reds with a mixture of red and black fruit, sous-bois, pressed roses and just a smudge of liquorice. The palate is medium-bodied with saturated tannins, a fine-boned structure with plenty of freshness and focus on the finish. There is a lot of substance here and as such, this will require 4-6 years to reach its drinking window.
