Tasting notes
The 2014 Sensibility Grenache from the Paderewski vineyard was harvested September 4-8 and fermented and matured in concrete. "This was the first year we had our concrete Tulips from Italy," winemaker Jordan Fiorentini remembers, "so you will see more control in the wines from here." The 2014 vintage was very hot, and the concrete seems to have helped give the wine some lift to counter its intensity. It's deeply scented of Morello cherries, blood orange, dark spices and earth, with deep red fruit character on the palate and a supple, juicy frame, finishing long and floral. It still has plenty of time to go in bottle, and 242 cases were made.

Saturated ruby. A highly perfumed bouquet displays scents of ripe red and blue fruits, incense and smoky minerals, along with a spicecake nuance that builds in the glass. Juicy, alluringly sweet raspberry liqueur and floral pastille flavors become fleshier and deeper with air while maintaining a refreshingly nervy quality. Seamless and pure, finishing with excellent persistence and harmonious tannins that come in slowly.
I loved the 2014 Sensibility (100% Grenache from the estate Paderewski Vineyard brought up all in concrete tanks), and this is up with some of the best Grenaches I've tasted from California. Kirsch, blackberries, spice, dried flowers and incense notes all emerge from this sexy, thrillingly textured 2014 that shows the forward, sexy style of the vintage. It reminds me a great vintage of Julien Barrot’s Domaine la Barroche Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvée Pure. Epoch’s Jordan Fiorentini has knocked it out of the park with these latest 2014s and 2015s, and I suspect these are the most complete, balanced wines from her to date. While the estate is located on York Mountain, all these wines come from their estate Paderewski Vineyard located off of Peachy Canyon road, on the westside of Paso Robles. As I hope the reviews and scores show, these are terrific wines.
