Tasting notes
Glass-staining ruby. Spice-accented aromas of ripe red berries, cherry pit, vanilla and candied rose take on a smoky element as the wine opens up. Sappy and sharply focused; zesty acidity adds lift and cut to the intense bitter cherry, raspberry and floral pastille flavors. Finishes extremely long, delivering silky, slow-building tannins, a kick of exotic spices and lingering red fruit character. There's 75 percent new French oak here but it's playing very nicely with the vibrant fruit.

A new wine that saw an extended barrel elevage, the 2012 Tempranillo Reserve offers black fruits, leather, coffee bean and dried violet nuances to go with a rich, concentrated, stunningly textured profile on the palate. It has lots of polished tannin and will need to forgotten for 2-3 years.
