Bright, saturated ruby. Classic Cabernet Sauvignon scents of black- and redcurrant, dark raspberry, blueberry, tobacco leaf and minerals, lifted by a floral element and sexy complementary oak. Wonderfully suave, savory and seamless on the palate, with perfectly integrated ripe acidity and virtually no herbal character. Utterly sexy, fine-grained, concentrated wine with great personality and insidious sweetness of fruit but no undue weight. Boasts terrific clarity and inner-mouth lift but also superb breadth to its red and black fruit, mineral and floral flavors. Here the disparate blend of Oakville and Coombsville fruit works perfectly. Finishes with ripe, enveloping, perfectly supported tannins and terrific slowly mounting sweetness. A wine with outstanding subtle depth of flavor and class--and utterly sexy today.

The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) comes from two AVAs, Coombsville and Oakville. A dense ruby/purple color is followed by scents of wet rocks, sweet black currants, cherries, and spice box. The wine is full-bodied with sweet tannin and a long, positive, dense finish. The ripeness, density and silkiness make it accessible, but it has 15+ years of cellaring potential. This small, high quality boutique operation is a joint venture between Annie Favia and winemaker and consultant Andy Erickson. By and large, not a lot of these wines are made, usually under 300 cases. The 2010s, which are currently on the market, are brilliant. www.faviawine.com
Freshly cut flowers, dark red berries, dried flowers and mint meld together in Favia's 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon, a wine of notable finesse and class. Even with all of its richness and concentration, the 2010 is marked by gorgeous, impeccable tannins that add to the overall impression of pure grace and class. Poised and focused to the core, the 2010 is all about balance and harmony. The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is easily one of the best wines I have ever tasted from Favia.
(100% cabernet sauvignon; from vineyards in Coombsville and Oakville): Good bright ruby. Highly aromatic nose and palate combine redcurrant, pepper, mocha and tobacco leaf. Bright and complex in the mouth, with terrific concentration and sweetness to the tactile, varietally accurate flavors. Offers an outstanding combination of claret-like Coombsville reserve and Oakville power. And wonderfully round on the long, sweet back end. (Incidentally, there will be no La Magdalena in 2010: that fruit, from the Summit Block at Oakville Ranch in the eastern hills above Oakville, went into Leviathan, another venture of Andy Erickson and his wife, viticulturalist Annie Favia.)
