Tasting notes
The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru has a very pure, very pretty bouquet that displays impressive delineation and focus; the pedigree is easy to see here. The palate is well balanced, very saline and sappy in the mouth, delivering good depth and substance and a spicy, almost fiery finish that wants to be noticed. Very promising, but give it time, because it clearly has a lot of potential. Tasted blind at the Burgfest 2017 tasting.

The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Les Saint-Georges 1er Cru takes the oyster shell leitmotif that runs through many of Chevillon’s wines this year and ramps it up. This feels as if it was grown next to a muddy estuary. There is wonderful clarity and focus here. The masculine palate is battened down by the firm tannin, offering dense red fruit, hints of dark chocolate and orange peel and a dash of white pepper toward the finish.
