Vivid red. Cherry and redcurrant on the nose. Sweet red fruit flavors are framed by fine-grained tannins and given a bitter edge and depth by a dark chocolate note. Clean and brisk on the finish, which features lingering redcurrant and cherry skin qualities. No fat on this wine.

The 2007 Cabernet Sauvignon is red cherry in color with aromas of violets and black currants. Smooth-textured with an elegant personality, it has plenty of spicy fruit and good length. Drink it over the next 4-5 years. Cousino-Macul was one of the first wineries from Chile to make a breakthrough into the American market primarily due to the hard work of importer Alfredo Bartholomaus. The quality of the wines has been consistently good but recent improvements in the vineyards and winery have taken quality up to another level. Importer: Billington Wines, Springfield, VA; tel. (703) 455-4700; www.billingtonwines.com and www.cousinomacul.com
