Tasting notes
Collosorbo's 2009 Brunello di Montalcino is marred by green, angular tannins, faded flavors and hard contours in what has turned out to be a very difficult vintage for this small estate in Castelnuovo dell'Abate.

Giovanna Ciacci’s 2009 Brunello di Montalcino impresses with its dark garnet color and its loaded fruit concentration. The aromas show signs of immediate evolution with dried fruit and bramble but the wine does a lovely job of framing more delicate nuances of smoke, licorice and crushed granite as well. The finish shows a fine texture and polished tannins. Drink: 2016-2020. Importers: A. Mid ruby with orange rim. Powerful cherry nose with a hint of tomato leaf. Sweet concentrated cherry palate that is almost a little over the top. Huge fruit finish and richly tannic. Should age well, but could be a little more precise. (WS)
