Tasting notes
DuMol's 2012 Pinot Noir Finn soars from the glass with super-expressive aromatics, silky fruit and exceptional overall balance. A racy, perfumed wine, the 2012 hits all the right notes. Rose petal, mint, sweet oak, cinnamon, pomegranate and sweet red cherries are some of the notes that are laced into the striking finish. The Finn is another Pinot that is even better from bottle than it was from barrel. Today, the new oak is a bit intrusive, but there is more than enough material to make me think the wine will come together well in bottle.

The prodigious 2012 Pinot Noir Finn (446 cases) is a blend of fruit from their Estate Vineyard (55%) and the Occidental Road Vineyard (45%). It is fashioned from a selection of different clones and sees about 45% new French oak. Underbrush, cigar tobacco, blackberries, black cherries, plums and sassafras notes interwoven with Asian spices, damp earth and truffle are present in this super-complex, full-bodied, opulent Pinot Noir. The largest scaled, most structured and densest of the DuMOL 2012 Pinots, this beauty will be even better after several years of bottle age, and should keep for 15+ years.
Freshly cut flowers, red berries, mint and sweet spices jump from the glass in the 2012 Pinot Noir Finn. Suave and silky throughout, the 2012 stands out for its gracious personality and impeccable overall balance. Silky tannins grace the perfumed, highly expressive finish.
