Score 94/100 · Drink 2025-2032, Matthew Luczy, Wine Advocate, Oct 2025

Sourced mainly from the Clos Solène estate with additions from Paper Street and G2, the 2022 Harmonie is a blend of 68% Grenache fermented in concrete and 17% Mourvèdre and 15% Syrah fermented in barrique. As I noted last year before bottling, the nose is a classic combination of bramble berries, leather and dark fruits, although its floral character has taken a pleasant precedence after time in bottle. This verve is reflected in the palate, which is pure and vibrant, seamlessly transitioning into a fresh, high-toned finish framed by refined, powdery tannins.

More Grenache-dominated (68% Grenache, 15% Mourvèdre, 17% Syrah), aged 16 months in mostly neutral puncheons (10% new French oak, 15% sandstone and wine globes), the 2022 Harmonie displays a ruby hue and offers red and black berry fruits, peppery garrigue, cedary spice, and chalky minerality. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a pure, layered, seamless mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and flawless balance, it's a gorgeous Grenache-driven cuvée that has so much to love. Drink 2025-2037. One of the top talents in Paso Robles, Guillaume Fabre worked at L’Aventure before launching Clos Solène in 2007. About seven years ago, he and his wife Solène bought a thirty-acre limestone site on Willow Creek Road at roughly 1,300 feet; it is farmed organically, and a new cave system under the property is nearly finished. Estate fruit now anchors the lineup, but it is supplemented by parcels from James Berry, G2, Hoyt, and Bien Nacido in Santa Maria Valley. The wines span the Roussanne-based Hommage Blanc, Grenache-led El Toro and Harmonie, Syrah-focused Hommage à Nos Pairs and Bien Nacido Cuvée Jean, the Cabernet-driven L’Insolent, the mixed variety Fleur de Solène, and the barrel selection Mon Millésime. Reds generally age 16-22 months in varying levels of new French oak. These are classic, impeccably made wines, rich yet structured, with seamless textures and beautiful overall balance, and Clos Solène is becoming a reference point for age-worthy wines from the region.

68% Grenache, 17% Syrah, 15% Mourvèdre. Medium purple. Floral and powdery on the nose with less sweet fruit than is characteristic of Paso – leaning on a blood-orange tanginess with driving, salty acidity. Lengthy, with fine-grained tannin and floral lift. (SCJ)

The 2022 Harmonie smolders up from the glass with a woodland-inspired blend of flowery underbrush, clove and pipe tobacco complementing dried black cherries. It's soothingly round and supple, displaying lovely elegance as tart red and blue fruits swirl across a core of enlivening acidity. Its crunchy, saline minerality comes forward through the finish as the 2022 tapers off with admirable length and inner freshness. Gently grippy tannins linger under an air of lavender pastille.
