2008 Brunello di Montalcino Piaggione Riserva

A wine of extraordinary finesse, the 2008 is laced with sweet red cherries, kirsch, spices, sage, rosemary, new leather, menthol and sweet tobacco. The flavors are dark, seductive and rich, but never heavy. With time in the glass, the wine turns even darker and more mysterious, while the tannins take on greater prominence. The explosive, palate-staining finish leaves a lasting impression. There is a lot to look forward to here, but readers need to be patient.
