Limpid ruby. A highly complex bouquet evokes ripe, spice-accented black raspberry and cherry scents complemented by suggestions of incense and exotic flowers. Sappy and incisive on the palate, offering alluring sweet cherry, dark berry liqueur and lavender pastille flavors that pick up a smoky, energizing mineral element with aeration. Delivers impressive punch but comes off lithe, finishing with excellent, floral-dominated persistence and smooth tannins that come in late to contribute shape and gentle grip.

Composed of 65% Mourvèdre, 28% Grenache and 7% Syrah, the 2014 Panoplie has a medium garnet-purple color and a lovely perfume of red roses and lavender over a core of kirsch, red currant jelly and black cherries, with touches of baking spices and dusty earth. Medium to full-bodied with plenty of expressive red berry and earthy layers on offer, it has a firm, chewy frame and appealing freshness on the finish. 775 cases were made.

Tasted out of bottle and a perplexing wine, the 2014 Panoplie is primarily Mourvèdre, with 28% Grenache and 7% Syrah, aged mostly in foudre. Resembling a Pinot Noir with its light, translucent ruby color, I think my score has dropped every time I've taste this wine over the past three years. Kirsch, strawberries, dried flowers and spice aromas and flavors and develop nicely and it has medium to full-bodied richness, a core of sweet fruit, broad, ripe tannin, and outstanding length. I'm sure it will gain weight and depth with 2-3 years bottle age, Nevertheless, I'm also sure it's not a great vintage of the cuvee. Drink it anytime over the coming 10-12 years. This is another solid lineup by Jason Haas’ Tablas Creek, which is in the northern part of Paso Robles. The 2014s are charming and forward, with the 2015s showing the more elegant, silky style of the vintage. Haas commented that the vines were tired in 2015 and stressed by the alternating hot/cold cycles that persisted throughout the year. while yields were lower in 2015, there was no pressure to harvest, which allowed them to do multiple passes and picks through each site.

Vivid ruby-red. Ripe red fruits, potpourri, sandalwood and Asian spices on the powerfully scented nose; mineral and rhubarb flourishes add complexity and lift. Coats the palate with sappy raspberry, spicecake and violet pastille flavors that spread out and become sweeter with air. Impressively deep and broad, but there's superb energy to this wine as well. Supple tannins add shape and gentle grip to an impressively long, red-fruit- and floral-driven finish that shows no rough edges. This wine is shaping up to be a star of the vintage.
